ABOUT JOSIE AND ECHO
My name is Josie and I am a certified professional dog trainer with the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) and owner of Echo Dog Training. I named my business after my loving, sensitive, and loyal border collie, Echo.
I've worked with dogs in many different training styles and approaches and in my years of education and experience with dogs I have found positive reinforcement dog training to be the kindest and most effective way to train. I believe in looking for the good in each dog and focusing our attention on what the dog is doing right instead of what they are doing wrong.
Animals (dogs especially) are my passion, but even more than animals, I love helping people have better lives with their dogs. After all, I am here to train YOU not your dog.
WHY ECHO DOG TRAINING?
An Echo is reflection of sound. I named my dog Echo because he is a reflection of me. He teaches me about my strengths and my flaws, and reacts most intently on the sound of my voice. Echo is a Border Collie, and Border Collies rely heavily on sound for training, so the name Echo really spoke to me and it fits him just right.
Echo helps me reflect on life and teaches me how to live my best life by showing me the value in the little things, how to be curious, and how to have less worry. Our dogs are amazing teachers and I strive to help my clients listen to their dog's wisdom to help them communicate better and have happier lives together.
The choice in dog training methods that I use depends heavily on how the dog reacts to whatever is happening, the environment, and what makes them happy. Training with Echo Dog Training is always positive and the dog's safety and well-being is the top priority.
Dog training should be a reflection of what the dog is showing us that they need. Nothing can be cookie-cutter and everything must be done depending on what works for your dog as an individual.
Just like humans have different learning styles, preferences of activities, and things that bring them joy, so do dogs! We must use their differences and individuality in training so we can creatively find solutions to problems, keep our dogs mentally and physically healthy, and build a beautiful partnership.
